RECYCLED ART SHOW
The Recycled Art Show is a special exhibit designed to coincide with Earth Week Commemoration activities co-sponsored by Hudson Crossing Park and Saratoga National Historical Park. The indoor art exhibit runs from Friday, April 20 to Sunday, April 29, 2012. Hudson Crossing Park and Saratoga National Historical Park (Saratoga Battlefield) are partnering in this celebration of Earth Week and consider art to be a perfect medium to heighten public awareness of recycling efforts.

DATES OF SHOW
The Hudson Crossing Park Recycled Art Show will be on indoor display at Saratoga National Historical Park Visitor Center (Saratoga Battlefield) at 648 Rt. 32, Stillwater, NY 12170, beginning with a reception on Friday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. Artwork will remain on exhibit Saturday, April 21 through Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closing ceremonies will follow.

In addition, outdoor artwork will be on exhibit for a minimum of one month at Hudson Crossing Park beginning on Friday, April 20. The Park is free and open to the public from dawn until dusk each day.

ACCEPTABLE MEDIUMS
Anything goes! This includes two - and three-dimensional works, including but not limited to: paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, pottery, collage, glasswork, metalwork and stonework. At least 50% of each piece of art must be comprised of recycled (discarded/found) materials, manmade or organic, including but not limited to wood, metal, stone, glass, paper, fabric, pottery and plastic.

DISPLAY CRITERIA
Entries selected for exhibit by the Recycled Art Show committee will meet the following criteria:

1) Work contains at least 50% recycled material.

2) Due to indoor space limitations, three-dimensional work generally must fit into a space of one and a half feet by two feet (1.5' by 2.0'). Larger works may be pre-approved by the committee.

3) Work is appropriate for family viewing.

Due to indoor space limitations, artists may submit up to three indoor pieces for consideration, completing an online entry form for each work submitted. Space limits the number of entries we can accept; therefore, the Art Show Committee reserves the right to close the entry process at any time, based on the number of submissions.

The indoor art space will have tables for display, although artists may wish to bring their own display stand or easel. Several lighter weight paintings may be attached to the wall using non-marking adhesive tapes, while heavier paintings or collages will require the artists to provide their own stands or easels.

There will be no official limit to the number or size of outdoor entries that may be submitted. Selected work will be displayed for a minimum of one month. The exhibit is dependent on the receipt of a sufficient number of accepted entries. Artwork must be securely installed between April 17-19 by the artist with assistance from a committee member. Hudson Crossing Park is located on N.Y.S. Route 4 - one mile north of the Village of Schuylerville - at Champlain Canal Lock 5 Island. Every artist will be responsible for signing a waiver of release, as this area cannot be monitored.

ELIGIBLE TO ENTER
Anyone may enter. Entrants under 18 must include a signature by a parent or guardian.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
Copy and submit the online Hudson Crossing Park Recycled Art Show Entry Form to be found at www.hudsoncrossingpark.org/artshow/Recycled_Art_Call_for_Artists.html. The entry form must be accompanied by a jpeg image (not larger than 4 megabytes) of the artist's work to be submitted. U.S. Postal Service mail entries must include a 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 non-returnable photo. All artists will be asked to sign a waiver and photo release form for publicity purposes when they deliver their art.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES
Entries may be submitted until April 9 (if space allows) to the Recycled Art Show online link at: www.hudsoncrossingpark.org or sent by U.S. Postal Service mail to: Hudson Crossing Park, PO Box 144, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Please do not send your entries to the Saratoga National Historical Park.

ENTRY FEE
A fee of five dollars ($5) will be charged for each entry that is accepted. This fee, to be collected at the time of delivery of the artwork, will help support Hudson Crossing Park and the Recycled Art Show. There is no admission fee to attend the show.

GIFT PRIZES
Gift certificates from local merchants will be awarded to winners in each of the following categories: Best of Show, Most Creative, Green Ribbon, Most Humorous and People's Choice. Separate awards will be given for Outdoor Artwork.

JURIED SHOW
The committee has selected a juror, Pat McEvoy, a well-known local artist, who will determine winners of all prizes except the People's Choice Awards, which will be decided by popular vote of attendees over the course of the show. People may vote in-person at Saratoga National Historical Park (one vote per person/per visit please).

SALE OF WORKS
The rules governing National Parks do not permit exchange of money by outside parties. However, artists may indicate a price, display their business cards and sell their work independently off site. If the artwork is for sale, the committee will note the price on or near the artwork. The same procedure will be applied for art displayed at Hudson Crossing Park.
