1 fun event for 2 hours that supports at least 3 organizations equals benefits for all.
b.e. there. Run, walk, pedal, row, roll, or share a ride to Hudson Crossing Park using the least amount of fossil fuel possible.
b.e. creative. Dress up yourself or decorate your means of transport using recyclable materials.
b.e. of service. Rake trails, plant bulbs, weed gardens. Care for a public space.
b.e. a part of the BIG picture. At 3:50PM all participants will create a photo for the moving-planet.org website.
b.e. a winner. Help out at the park and snap a winning picture of how you enjoy your public lands to submit to the National Public Lands Contest.
b.e. curious. What does 350 stand for? How can climate changes affect the price of clothes? How many recycled bottles does it take to make a jacket? Can you still do the hula hoop? What is at the heart of Blue Elm Clothing? Create some fun with us.
Mike Bielkiewicz, a local history buff, will share a dozen or so stories from regional authors, Stone, Brandow, Vanderwerker, and Pitkin along with hearsay he has collected over many years. From the Saratoga Trail, used by Native Americans, to the introduction of the railroads the illustrated presentation will cover many of the landmark and historical crossings that the Hudson Crossing Park space has seen. A possible explanation of the origin of a local Headless Horseman tale will be shared as well as a photo of a woman who crossed the Park in 234 years ago. Listeners are welcome to share their own favorites and Visitors are welcome to walk the trails to see the landmarks that are covered in the presentation.
