Show of Support from Snowmobile Clubs
Washington County Association Donates $4000 to Bridge Restoration

Big thanks go out to the Washington County Association of Snowmobile Clubs for their generous demonstration of support for the Dix Bridge rehabilitation project. The donation will be used as part of the local match for the transportation enhancement grant awarded to restore the bridge as a trail crossing for pedestrians, bicyclists, and snowmobile riders. Special thanks goes out to Dave Perkins for his leadership in this effort.

Great Backyard Bird Count
Collect Data on Local Bird Population February 18-21

Be a part of a national effort to record information about local birds by participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Watch a feeder in your yard or come to Hudson Crossing Park anytime over the 4 day event to observe our feathered friends. Birds frequently seen at the Park include woodpeckers, goldfinches, cardinals, and blue jays, and MANY more in warmer weather. Send us an email and let us know who you spot at the Park!

Growing...Swings?
Frame Installed for Swingset Before Snow Fell

Swingset Installation in Progress

Near the end of last year, before all of this white stuff blanketed the ground, a few volunteers worked very hard to get a new donated swingset in place. You can currently see the beginnings of this project on the canal-side of the trail. Stay tuned for a spring completion- imagine the fun of swinging while watching the boats traveling on the canal on a sunny summer day!

Kayak Launch Launched!
Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust Awards Grant

To all current and would-be water sport enthusiasts: the newest kayak launch on the Hudson River is moving forward! A $20k donation from the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust will go toward the construction of the kayak and canoe launch on the Park's island, at the southern end of the River Walk Trail. Work is scheduled to begin by late summer. Eventually, this project will be accompanied by a white water play park upstream in the rapids. Get your paddles ready!

Virtual Tour On Website

Hudson Crossing Park Sign

If the winter weather outdoors is just too much for you, don't worry- you can still "visit" the Park! Thanks to volunteer and Board Member Mike Bielkiewicz, there is now a virtual tour on the Hudson Crossing website that can show you the many different areas of the Park as well as offer wonderful historical photos and information on a handful of the older sections. Don't miss the information about the locks- fascinating details there. Go ahead- grab your cup of tea and slippers and hit the "trail"!
