Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust Awards Grant
To all current and would-be water sport
enthusiasts: the newest kayak launch on the
Hudson River is moving forward! A $20k donation
from the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust will
go toward the construction of the kayak and canoe
launch on the Park's island, at the southern end of
the River Walk Trail. Work is scheduled to begin
by late summer. Eventually, this project will be
accompanied by a white water play park upstream
in the rapids. Get your paddles ready!
Included in the Hudson Crossing Park Master Plan
is a White-Water Play Park for kayak enthusiasts.
The natural placement of rapids will eventually be
utilized to provide challenges to kayak pilots.
You will be able to stop your vehicle just after the lock bridge and take your Kayak down the trail to the Hudson River bank.
Paark your car in the lot and it is an easy walk from the lot to the Sensory trail that will lead you back to the Launch site. This
launch point is almost across from the Battenkil entrance to the river. You will be able to paddle down stream to Stillwater
along the longest span between locks on the Champlain Canal.
