Kayak Launches

Hudson Crossing Park is committed to making outdoor recreation accessible and welcoming to everyone. The park features two kayak launches: an adaptive launch on the Champlain Canal designed to support paddlers of varying abilities, and a second launch that provides easy access to the Hudson River. If you don’t have a kayak, don’t worry! You can rent a kayak from the kiosk located at the adaptive kayak launch. Whether you're an experienced kayaker or trying paddling for the first time, both launches offer a great way to explore the region's beautiful waterways.

Adaptive Kayak Launch

Located along the Champlain Canal, Hudson Crossing Park's adaptive kayak launch is designed to make paddling more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The launch features a transfer system that allows users to move from a wheelchair or mobility device into a kayak more safely and independently. The stable platform, supportive handrails, and gradual access help create a comfortable experience for both new and experienced paddlers.

For accessible parking, please park at the Champlain Canal Lock 5 parking lot on County Road 42. Follow the flat dirt path from the parking lot until you see the launch on the left. A paved path leads directly down to the launch.

The adaptive launch is available for public use during park hours. Please note that the launch is not staffed, and users should ensure they have the assistance they need before entering the water.

Kayak Rental Kiosk

Don't have your own kayak? No problem! Hudson Crossing Park is home to a self-service kayak rental kiosk, making it easy to get out on the water and explore the Champlain Canal.

Kayaks can be rented through the Upstate Kayak Rentals website, allowing visitors to reserve and access equipment quickly and conveniently. Life preservers are included with every rental, so you'll have everything you need for a safe and enjoyable paddling experience.

Kayak Rentals are available from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm (start times), 7 days a week. Please note that the rental kiosk and launches are not staffed.
