Kids On the Canals- Science!

Set sail on a journey through time as families explore the evolution of boat propulsion along the historic Champlain Canal! This interactive program dives into the fascinating ways boats have been powered—from the mule teams that once pulled canal boats along the towpath, to the engines and propellers that drive modern vessels today.

Together, kids and grown-ups will learn about the mechanics behind moving boats through water and how propulsion has evolved over centuries. Then it’s time to put learning into action! Participants will design, build, and test their own balloon-powered boats, experimenting with different shapes and styles to see which designs float best, go fastest, or travel the farthest.
