About the Role

The Park Educator helps design and deliver engaging programs that connect people of all ages and abilities with the natural and cultural heritage of the Hudson River and Champlain Canal. The Park Educator will work directly with the Director of Education and External Relations, other HCP staff, and volunteers. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to initiate and complete projects and tasks independently, and have good organizational and interpersonal skills. This is a part time job, and the hours are flexible and vary depending on the season. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with HCP Educators and staff to provide educational programming for people of all ages and abilities. 

  • Design and deliver interactive programs that foster curiosity, and appreciation for the environment, local history, and outdoor education for audiences ranging from preschooler to adult.

  • Adapt teaching methods to support varied learning styles and accessibility needs.

  • Collaborate with HCP staff, community partners, school districts, and local municipalities to expand educational offerings.

  • Support HCP’s mission of environmental stewardship and community sustainability through programming and outreach.

  • Serve as an ambassador and representative of Hudson Crossing Park during some community events, programs, and outreach opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • A passion for working with kids and learners of all ages and abilities.

  • Knowledge of (and/or an eagerness to learn about) science, environmental conservation, and local history.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Creativity, enthusiasm, adaptability, and a good sense of humor.

  • Must be 18 or older.

  • Must have a driver’s license and dependable transportation. 

  • Physical qualifications:

    • Must be able to navigate uneven terrain.

    • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

About the Internship

Hudson Crossing Park is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit administration, educational programming, and public outreach for the summer of 2026. This paid internship provides students with the opportunity to develop valuable skills in community engagement, event planning, marketing, and environmental education.

Interns will work closely with the Park Directors, board members, and volunteers to support programming, events, and outreach efforts. Responsibilities will be tailored to individual strengths and interests, ensuring a meaningful and impactful experience.

Responsibilities

  • Educational Programming & Outreach – Assist in the development and implementation of interactive programs for visitors of all ages.

  • Event Planning & Support – Help organize and run special events, including family programs, guided hikes, and fundraisers.

  • Marketing & Communications – Contribute to social media, graphic design, and promotional materials to increase park engagement.

  • Research & Design Projects – Work on independent or team-based projects that align with both the intern’s interests and Hudson Crossing Park’s needs.

  • Public Engagement – Be a part of the park’s outreach team, representing Hudson Crossing Park to the community and visitors.

  • Inclusion – Complete a three hour Inclusion Ambassador Training course and aid Hudson Crossing Park in inclusion initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older by May 1, 2026.

  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

  • Interest in environmental education, nonprofit management, event planning, or community engagement.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Some evenings/weekends will be required.

  • Must have a valid drivers license and dependable transportation.
